It takes more.

United Way of Kentucky knows that helping kids succeed takes more than just a single focus. In addition to education, see below for other ways that United Way is assuring children have every opportunity for a healthy and productive life.

KCHIP
United Way of Kentucky received a $175,000 grant to expand access to services across Kentucky. A portion of this grant is being utilized to increase the enrollment of uninsured children in the Kentucky Child Health Insurance Program (KCHIP).

KCHIPIn late 2008, Governor Steve Beshear announced an aggressive goal of getting 35,000 unserved children enrolled by 2010. In conjunction with Cabinet of Health and Family Services, a campaign was launched, and through the efforts of your United Ways and other Kid's Health Squad partners, that goal has been met. In the first year of the initiative, 36,500 children were enrolled. We continue to work with our partners to seek out eligible kids, and currently, there are estimates of about 8,000 eligible children still not covered.

United Ways across the state are providing information about KCHIP to their funded agencies, the local media and community healthcare providers.

Children need health insurance. If you know of or have children that you think may qualify, click here for more details.
